What do I need handy to apply?

Details you might like to track down before you start your Bankwest Online Application may include:

You and your partner’s gross annual salary.

The amount of any other regular income you receive.

The value of any assets you own, including property, cars, household goods and savings.

Your loan balances and repayments. This includes any home, car or other personal loans.

The limits and monthly repayments of your current credit and store cards.

If you are taking advantage of the low rate balance transfer of any other credit or store cards that you or an additional cardholder has to your new credit card then you will need the card number and balance of any cards you'd like to transfer.

A phone number and email address so we can confirm the completed process.

And if you'd like to avoid withholding tax being deducted from your new account, you'll also need your Tax File Number.

If you’re an existing Bankwest customer, you can also choose to enter your PAN into the application to help us add your new account to your Bankwest Online Banking account.

Last but not least - a printer! You may wish to print or save the Identification Check Form, Product Disclosure Statement(s), Account Authority, Interest Rate Schedule, Financial Services Guide, and the Privacy Consent. Please don't worry if you don't have access to a printer as we can also send the relevant documents out to you in the mail on request.

Why do I need to link an account?

Your Linked Account is the personal bank account you nominate to conduct your transactions through.

It must be a personal account held at an Australian Bank (not a business account) and must be:

(a) in exactly the same name/s as the account you are about to open, or
(b) where the account is in joint names, one of the names must be the same

What are the simple Online Application steps?

Step One

Provide us with your consent for us to use your information and make enquiries about you.

Answer a few simple questions to check whether you’re eligible for the account.

Read and accept the terms of our Financial Services Guide, the Product Disclosure Statement(s), Interest Rate Schedule and our Privacy Consent.

Step Two

Provide us your personal details. If you’re applying for a joint account, the joint account holder will need to provide their details as well.

Step Three

Where you outline your current financial details, tell us how you would like to set up your account and select certain facilities.

Step Four

Here you confirm the details you have entered and submit your application for an immediate response.

Step Five

You will be advised of your application reference number and a confirmation email will be sent to you.

You will then hear back from us within 10 working days.

This step also offers you Credit Card Protection and a Balance Transfer facility, then finalises your application (If applicable).

If you have successfully submitted an application, you will be issued with your BSB, Account number and the PAN for the account – make sure you keep these details safe.

In some cases, you may need to verify your identity. When this happens we will provide you with the next steps you need to take in order to open your account.

How long will it take?

Completing the Bankwest Online Application can take as little as 5 minutes.

We'll also be able to provide you with a response within a minute of submitting your application.

What if I need to save and resume my Online Application at a later date?

Once you have entered a valid email address and clicked 'next' on your 'Personal Details' Page, you will receive an email with your application reference number in it.

You are then able to resume your saved Online Application using the given application reference number within seven days.

We will only save the details you have provided to enable you to resume your application later.

Will my application time out on me if I leave it on idle?

For additional security, the Bankwest Online Application process includes a 10 minute time out session.

If you leave your application open for 10 minutes without entering any details, it will time out and you will need to start again
